I am a 50 year-old psychiatrist and have been struggling with multiple sclerosis for 25 years. I have been working closely with Ena Burrud over the past 2 years practicing yoga therapy. We focus on balance, and address weaknesses, sensory deficits and lack of coordination. I have noted improvement in flexibility, strength and overall function. In addition, yoga, meditation, mindfulness training and breathing exercises have helped me with stress-related symptoms such as occasional muscle tension, anxiety and sleep disturbance. I will continue to utilize Ena's techniques and have referred several patients to her. These patients suffered from not only anxiety and mood disorders but also physical illnesses which impaired their functioning. Ena and Yoga Therapy made significant improvements in their quality of life and overall well-being.
